Inocentes BELFORD ROXO
RIO DE JANEIRO CARNIVAL
the Atelier
A PERSONAL INVITATION TO CARNIVAL 2025
This atelier became one of my first doors into Carnival from the inside.
Not from the grandstand, not only from the spectacle, but from the place where people prepare, repair, imagine and carry the responsibility of beauty before anyone applauds..
Where the parade begins long before the drums.
THE HONOR OF DOCUMENTING INOCENTES DE BELFORD ROXO
To photograph Inocentes de Belford Roxo was to enter a carnival world shaped by commitment, proximity and work.
There was no distance here. The story was made of people, materials, gestures, small decisions, and the pride of a school preparing itself to be seen.
Before Carnival enters the avenue, it passes through rooms like this.
Inside the atelier, the parade is still unfinished: fabric on tables, hands measuring, drawings becoming costume, women working through heat, patience and detail. Nothing here feels secondary. The dream begins in repetition, in concentration, in the quiet labor that allows a school to appear before the public as magic.
